New project. Vessels.
Currently when time allows I am training to hammer raise seamless vessels. When I am able to make a decent vessel I will begin to decorate them with the techniques I currently use on fittings. It is an exciting endeavor for me and will allow me to express my self more freely. Fittings are very restrictive as a canvas for art. Vessels have large uncluttered fields of space to work within. So I am excited about the possibilities.

Below are my first attempts. All three of these vessels started as 4" diameter blanks. The first two pictures show a bowl and lid I made using a sinking technique with a hammer and a block of wood. Diameter 2.75"

This next bowl is made with a raising technique using a raising stake and a raising hammer. It is 2.5" across

The last bowl I did I used a scrap piece of mokume and did a more extreme shape. Well a more extreme shape for me that is. It is not a perfect cylinder, but I don't think it too bad for a first try. The Mokume worked great I did not notice any difference between it and plain copper. In my next project I am going to make some larger more practical copper vessels to use in my Rokusho process.

end.
